Art Studio 87 & 1/2, LLC

I am Lynn Tilson a resident of Yuma, AZ.  I have wandered though life - my mother never thinking I would be anything!  When I received a masters in mathematics, she smiled. When I was hired for my first teaching job - she smiled some more. When I wrote a math textbook and read her the dedications to her and my father - she cried!  This was 2 days before she died.

The site building software provided by Yahoo suggests a mission statement at this point. 

*To provide the artists of Yuma, two nights a year to be together with or without their art, to enjoy each other and the people who have "an affair" with what they do.*

Our Business

This website came out of my purchase of an art gallery in Yuma, AZ in 2003.  I now spend my time creating connections for our artists with people who are fascinated with what they  do and  -  hopefully buy it!

Since August 2009, I have been finishing my father's book, Caterpillars Never Die, that he wrote for my daughter in 1976.  Rosemary Hawkey has done the artwork.  Check out her website!

Who We Are

The we - is me - with support from my husband.  And how may times have you heard that????!!!!

He suggests, cooks for the Art Affairs and is generally charming.  Me?  I stress!!! 

The Art Affair is always published in the Yuma Sun!  We are hoping for many more than 100+ attendees  this coming February!  Since the wall is not done probably later in the year of 2010!  

Well, after 4 years, the wall never was done so we moved to Madison Avenue - hope to have an Art Affair here in February 2012.  Since we don't have the space we had before - James will not have to cook - it's catering time!

Several years ago, we donated my father's (Ernest Watts Harvey) Mason & Hamlin 1929 grand piano to the Yuma Art Center and had some photos taken by a local photographer - Bill Butler at www.williamfbutler.com - Captured Light Photography.
